5 Days Climbing Marangu Route

  • Marangu-Route
  • Marangu-2

The Marangu Route, also referred to as the “Coca Cola” or “tourist” route is the shortest path to reach the summit. One unique feature of this route is that it offers sleeping huts at each campsite equipped with lights and comfortable beds. These huts are communal. Furnished with sponge mattresses and pillows.

Mandara and Kibo Huts have a total of 60 beds each while Horombo Hut has 120 beds. The lower huts provide bathrooms and running water. However the latrines, at the camp are quite basic.

During the climb climbers from countries across the globe come together in dining huts to share meals creating an energetic atmosphere.

Typically completed in five days this route can also be extended to six days for acclimatization. The additional day can be utilized for rest at Horombo or, for ascending the peak of Mawenzi.
